FABP4 (Human) ELISA Kit

Fatty acid-binding protein 4 (FABP4, A-FABP, aP2) is a 15 kDa protein that belongs to the intracellular fatty acid-binding protein family. The protein is expressed in dendritic cells, macrophages, and adipocytes. FABP4 is regulated at the transcriptional level by fatty acids, insulin, PPAR-γ agonists, and dexamethasone. FABP4 regulates glucose and lipid metabolism in the adipose tissue by promoting lipolysis, inhibiting the action of insulin, and promoting the production of glucose. In the macrophages, it modulates the production of inflammatory cytokines and the accumulation of cholesterol esters. Therefore, FABP4 may be contributing to the pathogenesis of diseases such as atherosclerosis and diabetes mellitus. BioVision’s FABP4 (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich ELISA principle to quantitatively measure the amount of FABP-4 in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and subsequently washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is proportional to the amount of FABP4 in the sample or standard.
