PER2 (Human) ELISA Kit
Period circadian protein homolog 2 (PER2) belongs to the family of Period proteins. It is primarily expressed in the central nervous system (SCN) and peripheral nervous system. As a core component of the circadian clock, it regulates daily rhythms of locomotion, metabolic and behavioral activity. PER2 is involved in the transcription-translation feedback loop wherein it forms a heterodimer with CRYs in the cytoplasm and inhibits CLOCK-BMAL1 transcriptional activity. Mutations of PER2 cause a phenotype similar to the Familial advanced sleep phase. PER2 may also be associated with neurodegenerative diseases, depression, drug addiction, and food anticipation, although mechanisms remain unknown. BioVision’s PER2 (Human) ELISA kit quantitatively measures PER2 in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. HRP-Streptavidin is added to the plate, and post-incubation any unattached conjugates are washed off by Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected using TMB-substrate. Finally, an acidic stop solution terminates the enzymatic reaction. The color developed is directly proportional to the amount of PER2 in the sample or standard.
