The SARS-CoV S protein coordinates viral entry by interacting with human ACE2 and CLEC4M/DC-SIGNR receptors to attach viral particles to the cell membrane. It downregulates host tethering protein (BST2) through lysosomal degradation, antagonizing its antiviral activity.
