Target Background

Annexin A1 is a member of the Ca+2- dependent phospholipid binding proteins that are localized on the cytosolic face of the plasma membrane. It inhibits activity of phospholipase A2, binding 2-4 calcium ions with high affinity. Given the involvement of phospholipase A2 in mediating inflammation, prostaglandins, and leukotrienes, Annexin A1 might have potential anti-inflammatory activity.
