CHI3L1 (Human) ELISA Kit
Chitinase 3-like 1 (CHI3L1, GP-39, YKL-40) is a 40 kD glycoprotein that is secreted by a variety of cells such as endothelial cells, primary immune cells, cancer cells, and inflammatory cells. The protein does not possess chitinase activity due to mutations in its active site. CHI3L1 is known to promote cell growth, proliferation, survival. It also plays a significant role in inflammation and tissue remodeling. Increased levels of CHI3L1 are associated with poor prognosis and survival in a variety of cancers such as colon, pancreas, stomach, thyroid, and glioblastoma multiforme. Higher protein and mRNA expression is observed in other disease states such as inflammatory bowel disease, asthma, diabetes, atherosclerosis, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Hence, CHI3L1 could serve as an efficient therapeutic target for the treatment of human diseases. BioVision’s CHI3L1 (Human) ELISA kit is based on the Sandwich ELISA principle to quantitatively measure the amount of CHI3L1 in human serum, plasma, and other biological fluids. Test samples, Standards, and Biotinylated Detection antibody are added to the wells pre-coated with capture antibody and then washed with Wash Buffer. The HRP-Streptavidin is added and any unattached conjugates are washed off using Wash Buffer. The HRP enzymatic reaction is detected by the addition of TMB-substrate. Finally, the reaction is terminated with an acidic stop solution. The color developed is proportional to the amount of CHI3L1 in the sample or standard.
