Lowenstein Jensen + Rifampicin 20ug/ml

Lowenstein Jensen + Antibiotic are egg-based media used for differentiating Mycobacterium spp and for drug susceptibility testing (DST) of Mycobacterium tuberculosis with the gold standard proportion method. Among the solid media, growth of mycobacteria tends to be slightly better on Lowenstein Jensen (LJ) rather than on an agar medium such as Middlebrook 7H11 (ref. 37000, 37001) even though a longer incubation time is needed. The anti-tuberculous drug or substance included and its concentration defines each medium.
