12-crown-4 (EOCT, Ethylene oxide cyclic tetramer) is an effective phase-transfer catalyst and complexing agent for lithium, facilitating the dissolution of lithium bis (trifluoromethanesulfonyl) imide (LiTFSI) without requiring acetonitrile.
