Nitroblue Tetrazolium Chloride

Nitroblue Tetrazolium Chloride (NBT) is a chromogenic substrate widely used in alkaline phosphatase-based detection systems. In the presence of BCIP, NBT is reduced to an insoluble blue-purple formazan precipitate, enabling visual detection in applications such as Western, Southern, and Northern blotting, in situ hybridization, ELISAs, and immunohistochemistry. NBT offers high sensitivity and is ideal for colorimetric assays requiring permanent staining.
