The PCSK9 protein regulates cholesterol levels by interacting with LDLR, VLDLR, LRP1/APOER, and LRP8/APOER2. It promotes their degradation and inhibits their recycling, leading to enhanced LDLR degradation. PCSK9 also affects APOB degradation, BACE1 intermediates, ENaC surface expression, and neuronal apoptosis via LRP8/APOER2.
