Anti-TOMM20 Antibody

TOMM20, or Translocase of Outer Mitochondrial Membrane 20, is a mitochondrial import receptor crucial for transporting proteins into the mitochondria, a process essential for energy production, metabolism, and apoptosis. Discovered in the 1990s as part of the TOM complex, TOMM20 binds precursor proteins and collaborates with other TOM components to channel them into the mitochondrion. This protein import sustains mitochondrial function and quality control, influencing mitochondrial dynamics like fusion and fission to meet cellular demands. Given its role in energy and metabolic regulation, TOMM20 dysfunction is linked to neurodegenerative disorders, including Parkinson’s (Di Maio et al. 2016) and Alzheimer’s (Pei et al. 2023), as well as certain cancers such as prostate (Yin et al.2023) and colorectal (Park et al 2019), making it a significant focus in research on mitochondrial-related diseases.

Store at 4°C in the dark. Under these conditions, the antibodies should have a shelf life of at least twelve months, provided they remain sterile. For longer term storage, aliquot and freeze to avoid freeze-thaw of the antibody.

Each new lot of this antibody is tested to confirm that it recognizes a single immunoreactive band of expected molecular weight when used in Western blot.
