Mollusk gDNA Kit
The Mollusk gDNA Kit is specially engineered for efficient isolation of high-quality genomic DNA from mollusk and other invertebrate tissues (including clams, snails, mussels, and similar species), which are often rich in mucopolysaccharides and inhibitors. The workflow begins with mechanical or enzymatic tissue disruption, followed by lysis in a high-salt/CTAB buffer, removal of polysaccharides and contaminants, binding of DNA to a silica-membrane or bead-format column, rigorous wash steps and final elution in low-salt TE or nuclease-free water. Typical sample input is ~10–50 mg of fresh/frozen tissue (or similar biomass) ; yields vary by species and starting material but support downstream applications such as PCR, qPCR, restriction digestion, cloning and sequencing. The kit includes lysis/reagent buffer, binding column (or beads), wash buffers, elution buffer, RNase A (optional), and a detailed protocol. No phenol/chloroform extraction or cumbersome precipitation steps are required—ideal for molecular ecology, genomics, invertebrate-biology and biodiversity research workflows.
