Insect gDNA Kit
The Insect gDNA Kit is optimized for efficient isolation of high-quality genomic DNA from insect and arthropod samples (whole body, legs, wings or tissue sections) — including fresh, frozen or preserved specimens (e.g., alcohol- or formalin-fixed) with challenging exoskeletons or high polysaccharide content. The workflow features mechanical or enzymatic disruption (e.g., pestle grinding, bead-beating, or lysozyme/proteinase K digestion), followed by selective DNA binding to a silica-column or magnetic-bead format, thorough washing to remove proteins, polysaccharides and inhibitors, and elution of pure DNA in low-salt buffer or water. Typical yields depend on sample size and species; the purified gDNA often spans high–molecular-weight fragments (30–60 kb or more), making it suitable for downstream applications such as PCR, qPCR, restriction digestion, cloning, sequencing or genotyping. The kit includes lysis buffer, disruption reagents, binding columns or beads, wash buffers, elution buffer, RNase A (optional), and a detailed user protocol — no hazardous organic solvents required. Ideal for entomology, molecular-ecology, genomics and insect-pathogen-interaction research workflows.
