Mollusk RNA Kit
The Mollusk RNA Kit is specifically designed for the efficient isolation of high-quality total RNA from mollusks (e.g., snails, clams, mussels), arthropods, roundworms, flatworms and other invertebrate tissues rich in mucopolysaccharides and inhibitors. The protocol begins with homogenization and lysis in a high-salt CTAB-based buffer to disrupt tough tissues and remove abundant polysaccharides, followed by selective RNA binding on a silica-matrix, rigorous wash steps to eliminate proteins, salts, and mucopolysaccharides, and final elution of clean RNA ready for downstream applications such as RT-PCR, Northern blotting, mRNA purification, in-vitro translation or RNA-seq. Typical yields range depending on species and tissue size; purified RNA consistently shows high integrity and purity (e.g., A260/A280 ≈ 1.8–2.0) . The kit includes all necessary components: homogenization buffer, lysis buffer with CTAB, binding columns or plates, wash buffers, elution buffer (RNase-free), optional DNase treatment and a detailed user protocol. No phenol/chloroform extraction or hazardous reagents are required—ideal for molecular biology, transcriptomics and invertebrate-biology labs working with challenging sample types.
