Viral RNA Extraction from Respiratory Specimens
The BioMiga Viral RNA Extraction from Respiratory Specimens kit provides a fast, reliable method for isolating total viral RNA from respiratory-linked clinical specimens — including nasopharyngeal/oropharyngeal aspirates or washes, swabs, bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL), tracheal aspirates, and sputum. The kit is optimized for downstream PCR and qRT-PCR applications, having been validated for viruses such as SARS-CoV-2, Hepatitis A, Hepatitis C and HIV. It supports sample volumes of ~50–300 μL and uses a silica-column (or magnetic bead) format to deliver high-quality RNA in as little as ~15–20 minutes. The workflow includes lysis with proteinase-K and specialized Buffer LYE, binding, washing to remove inhibitors, and elution in RNase-free water — yielding RNA ideal for diagnostics, viral load monitoring or research studies. Accepts only synthetic-tip swabs with plastic or aluminum shafts (cotton or wooden-shaft swabs not suitable) . The kit comes with all required reagents, detailed protocol and is available in sizes (50-preps, 250-preps) and automation-compatible formats.
