It induces endothelial apoptosis, IL-1β secretion, and oxidative stress, leading to inflammation and organelle dysfunction. It also upregulates ICAM-1, VCAM-1, and E-selectin, thereby enhancing leukocyte adhesion in early atherosclerosis.
