Metipranolol hydrochloride is a non-selective antagonist of β-adrenoceptor. It also inhibits iron/ascorbate and sodium nitroprusside-induced lipid peroxidation with an IC50 of 6.9 μM and 25.1 μM respectively. It exhibits antioxidant properties and can be used in research to lower elevated intraocular pressure associated with glaucoma.
