Background
Smooth muscle myosin heavy chain (SMMHC) is a structural component of smooth muscle myosin with a molecular weight of 200 kDa. It is mainly used to label vascular and visceral smooth muscle cells and myoepithelial cells. It is a sensitive and specific marker of smooth muscle. It is mainly used for the diagnosis and classification of mesenchymal tumors, and can also be used for the detection of breast myoepithelial cells, which is helpful to distinguish carcinoma in situ from invasive carcinoma.
