Background
Human placental prolactin (HPL) is a 22 kD polypeptide hormone synthesized and secreted by placental syncytiotrophoblast cells, has partial homology with growth hormone. It is expressed in normal placenta, choriocarcinoma, testicular cancer. Anti-HPL antibody is commonly used in the study of trophoblastic tumors.
