Background
Calponin-1 is a calcium regulatory protein that binds tropomyosin and F-actin. It is a specific protein of smooth muscle cells and has the function of inhibiting the contraction of smooth muscle cells. It is expressed in smooth muscle and myoepithelial cells, as well as myofibroblasts. It is mainly used to study the distribution of myoepithelial cells in smooth muscle tumors and breast tissues.
