Background
MyoD1 is a phosphorylated protein with a molecular weight of 45 kDa, which binds to myosin in the cytoskeleton. It is only expressed in embryonic rhabdomyosarcoma cells, but not in normal adult rhabdomyosarcoma cells. It is a marker of rhabdomyosarcoma and is often used in combination with Myogenin in rhabdomyosarcoma. A few non- myogenic tissues including adenoepithelium, neuroblastoma, Ewing's sarcoma, alveolar soft tissue sarcoma and rhabdomyosarcoma showed positive cytoplasm.
