Background
Claudin 4, a protein with molecular weight of 22 kDa, is one of the major tight junction proteins that mediate cellular polarity and differentiation. The expression of claudin 4 is low in the normal tissues of the lung, kidney, breast, prostate, bladder and gastrointestinal tract. It has reported that the expression level of claudin 4 is significantly up- regulate in gastric cancer and breast tumors.
