Background
CD63 is a lysosomal membrane glycoprotein, which is widely expressed in hematopoietic and non- hematopoietic cells, such as sweat glands, Langerhan islands, pituitary, pancreas, peribronchial glands and prostate cells. CD63, as a tumor suppressor gene, is expressed in malignant melanoma and inhibits its proliferation and metastasis. The expression of CD63 is negatively correlated with invasion and metastasis of malignant melanoma. It is strongly expressed in early stage of melanoma and can be used in the study of melanoma.
