Recombinant Human Nanog
Nanog, a homeobox transcription factor1, plays a key role in maintaining stem cell pluripotency by regulating the expression of genes critical to stem cell renewal and differentiation.2 In other words, these cells have the ability to become virtually any cell of any of the three germ layers (endoderm, ectoderm, mesoderm) . Nanog may be useful in the immunohistochemical diagnosis of tumors. It is expressed in germ cells of the fetus and in some germ cell tumors of the gonads3 and central nervous system.4
