Interleukin-1RA is a member of the Interleukin-1 (IL-1) cytokine family. It inhibits the activities of of IL-1 alpha and IL-1 beta and modulates a variety of IL- 1-related immune and inflammatory responses. A polymorphism of this gene is reported to be associated with an increased risk of osteoporotic fractures and gastric cancer.
