Anti-Piccolo (PCLO) [Clone 6H9-B6] - 100 μg
Piccolo is a presynaptic cytomatrix protein localized at the presynaptic side of synaptic junctions. It is a large, multi-domain protein composed of an N-terminal zinc finger (Zn2+), several Piccolo-Bassoon homology (PBH) domains, and C-terminal PDZ and C2 domains. Piccolo is commonly found in association with Bassoon, a structurally related scaffolding protein, and both are key components of the cytomatrix at the active zone (CAZ) . As a scaffolding protein, Piccolo plays a critical role in organizing molecules involved in the endocytosis and exocytosis of synaptic vesicles. Recent studies have shown that Piccolo can modulate clathrin-mediated endocytosis by interacting with Abp1, an actin- and dynamin-binding protein. Piccolo is highly expressed in the brain, with lower expression observed in the stomach. It is not detected in other tissues such as the adrenal gland, testis, or pancreas.
