Anti-Hepatitis G Virus - 100 μg
Hepatitis G virus (HGV), also known as GB virus C (GBV-C), belongs to the GB virus group, which includes GBV-A, GBV-B, and GBV-C. HGV is a positive-sense, single-stranded RNA virus with a genome approximately 10 kilobases in length. Based on its genomic structure and organization, HGV is classified within the Flaviviridae family, yet it is genetically distinct from hepatitis C virus (HCV) . Transmission of HGV primarily occurs through blood-to-blood contact, such as transfusion from HGV RNA–positive donors. Although infection may lead to mild elevations in liver enzymes, it is generally not associated with chronic liver disease or significant hepatic pathology. Despite its name, HGV is not clearly linked to hepatitis-related liver damage, and its clinical relevance continues to be explored, particularly in co-infections with HIV and HCV.
