Background

The human Glucocorticoid-induced TNFR-related protein (GITR, CD357, AITR) is a recombinant protein consisting of a single glycosylated polypeptide chain with 145 amino acids (26-162aa) . Glucocorticoid-induced TNFR-related protein (GITR), also known as TNFRSF18, GITR, and CD357, AITR (Activation-Inducible TNFR family member is a member of the TNF receptor superfamily. It significantly stimulates both acquired and innate immunity by promoting T effector function and inhibiting regulatory T cell (Treg) suppression. GITR is broadly expressed on various immune cells, particularly Tregs, natural killer (NK) cells, antigen-presenting cells (APCs), and tumor cells. Upon T cell activation, GITR expression is upregulated on Tregs and CD4+ and CD8+ effector T cells, making it an attractive target for cancer immunotherapy due to its potential to enhance immune responses against tumors.
