Collagen Type II, Monoclonal Antibody (Clone CIIC1)

This antibody binds specifically to the C1 epitope on triple helica collagen type 2. It cross-reacts with mouse, rat, chicken, baboon and horse. Collagen type II, encoded by the COL2A1 gene, is a crucial component of cartilage and plays a vital role in maintaining joint integrity. In mouse models of arthritis, such as collagen-induced arthritis, COL2A1 is studied for its role in cartilage degradation, a key feature of conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
