Recombinant Mouse Transcription factor A, mitochondrial/mTFAM (N-His)
Source : E. coli; Mitochondrial transcription factor A (TFAM) is a double box high-mobility group DNA-binding and bending protein. The mitochondrial isoform of TFAM is widely expressed, whereas the nuclear isoform is testis-specific. TFAM plays an essential role in the activation of mitochondrial transcription and mitochondrial genome replication. It facilitates the transcription of the mitochondrial genome by binding mitochondrial promoter DNA. Studies in mice found that TFAM play a central role for embryonic development and is required to maintain the normal levels of mitochondrial genome copy.
