Recombinant Human C5a

Source : E. coli; Human Complement 5a (C5a) is a glycoprotein that belongs to a family of structurally and functionally related proteins known as anaphylatoxins. C5a is released from complement component C5, and act as a potent chemotactic factor for human peripheral blood neutrophils and monocytes. C5a is believed to play an important role in a number of inflammatory conditions. C5a can modulate the balance between activating versus inhibitory IgG Fc receptors on leukocytes, thereby enhancing autoimmune response. C5a also binds to a signaling G-protein coupled receptor (C5aR/CD88) and a non-signaling GPCR termed C5L2. Activation of Cd88 results in neutrophil chemotaxis and endothelial cell activation. It also triggers an oxidative burst in macrophages and neutrophils and induces the release of histamine in basophils and mast cells.
