CTSL, is a dimer composed of disulfide-linked heavy and light chains, both formed from a single protein precursor. Furthermore, CTSL is a lysosomal cysteine proteinase which takes a main part in intracellular protein catabolism. CTSL substrates include collagen and elastin, as well as alpha-1 protease inhibitor, which is the most important controlling element of neutrophil elastase activity. CTSL has been implicated in a number of pathologic processes, including myofibril necrosis in myopathies and in myocardial ischemia, and in the renal tubular response to proteinuria. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants have been found for CTSL.CTSL Mouse Recombinant produced in Sf9 Baculovirus cells is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 325 amino acids (18-334a.a.) and having a molecular mass of 36.8kDa (Molecular size on SDS-PAGE will appear at approximately 40-57kDa) . CTSL is expressed with an 8 amino acid His tag at C-Terminus and purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.
