OPG inhibits the activation of osteoclasts and promotes osteoclast apoptosis in vitro. Bone homeostasis seems to depend on the local rankl/opg ratio. Osteoprotegerin may also play a role in preventing arterial calcification. May act as decoy receptor for trail and protect against apoptosis. Trail binding blocks the inhibition of osteoclastogenesis.OPG Human Recombinant is a single, glycosylated polypeptide chain containing 393 amino acids (22-401a.a) and having a molecular mass of 45.0kDa (calculated) . OPG is fused to a 13 a.a FLAG- tag at N-terminal.
