Anti-Human CD143 Antibody (Clone : 5-369)
CD143, also known as ACE (angiotensin-converting enzyme), carboxycathepsin, kininase II, peptidase P, or peptidyl dipeptidase 1, is a transmembrane zinc metallopeptidase catalyzing the conversion of angiotensin I into the physiologically active angiotensin II, which is a potent vasopressor and aldosterone-stimulating peptide that controls blood pressure and fluid-electrolyte balance. This enzyme plays a key role in the renin-angiotensin system. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been identified, and two most abundant spliced variants encode the somatic form and the testicular form, that are equally active. CD143 is expressed mainly on endothelial cells, but it can be found also e.g. on activated macrophages and histiocytes.Specificity : The mouse monoclonal antibody 5-369 recognizes an extracellular epitope of CD143, a 171 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein with metallopeptidase activity, expressed mainly on endothelial cells.
