Specificity: Anti-Group B Strep (Clone GBS-7197) is specific for extracted Group B Streptococcus carbohydrate. There is no reactivity with other bacteria or Streptococci groups A, C, D, F & G. Antigen: Group B Streptococcus carbohydrate Background: Group B Streptococcus (GBS) are the cause of GBS disease. The bacteria is commonly found in the gastrointestinal and genital tract and is most often not harmful. However, GBS can cause serious disease in adults and is the leading cause of meningitis and sepsis in newborns.
