Syndecan-4 (SDC4) belongs to a family of transmembrane proteoglycans, which is capable of modulating cell behavior through their capacity to act as cell surface coreceptors for a variety of heparin binding proteins. Syndecan-4 appears to be directly involved in regulating platelet aggregation as anti-syndecan-4 antibody augments platelet aggregation.
