Inorganic Pyrophosphatase (iPPase), 124 U
E. coli inorganic pyrophosphatase (iPPase) catalyzes the hydrolysis of inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi) to form orthophosphate. Using iPPase in anin vitrotranscription reaction drives RNA synthesis forward by removing pyrophosphate which forms as a byproduct and precipitates with key transcription buffer cations. Unit definition: One unit of enzyme produces 1 μmol of phosphate from inorganic pyrophosphate in 1 min at 25°C.
