This construct expresses an enhanced version of the green fluorescent protein (EGFP), originally isolated from the jellyfishAequorea victoria, as self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) . EGFP is a commonly used direct detection reporter in mammalian cells, yielding bright green fluorescence with an emission peak at 509 nm. Due to their self-amplification capability, saRNAs may provide more durable and longer protein expression than mRNAs.
