Measured by its ability to induce Interferon gamma secretion by human natural killer lymphoma NK-92 cells. The ED50 for this effect is typically 15-90 ng/mL.

The recombinant mouse IL12 heterodimer of IL12A/IL12B, IL12B is Fc chimera, comprises 758 (204 + 554) amino acids and has a calculated molecular mass of 85.9 (23.1 + 62.8) kDa. The apparent molecular mass of rh IL12 heterodimer is approximately 28 & 75 kDa respectively in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions.
