Background
Cytochrome c oxidase assembly factor 7 (COA7) is a 231 aa long mitochondrial protein present in animals, containing five Sel1-like tetratricopeptide repeat sequences, which are likely to interact with partner proteins (PMID: 30885959) . COA7 is a metazoan-specific assembly factor, the absence or mutation of which in humans accompanies complex IV assembly defects and neurological conditions (PMID: 35210360) . COA7 has a molecular weight of ~25 kDa.
