Anti-DAF CD55 Antibody

Boster Bio Anti-DAF CD55 Antibody (Catalog # A00910) . Tested in ELISA, WB, IHC-P, IF applications. This antibody reacts with Human.

Product Specifications

Background

The decay-accelerating factor (DAF), also known as CD55, is an integral membrane glycoprotein that is involved in the regulation of the complement cascade (1) . DAF limits excessive complement activation by accelerating their decay following DAF binding, thereby disrupting the cascade and preventing damage to host cells (2) . Antigens present on the DAF glycoprotein constitute the Cromer blood group system (CROM) (3) .

Synonyms

Decay-accelerating factor, CD55 molecule decay accelerating factor for complement (Cromer blood group), CD55, CR, TC, CROM

Gene Name

CD55

UniProt

P08174

Host

Rabbit

Reactivity

Human

Cross Reactivity

DAF antibody is human specific. At least two isoforms of DAF are known to exist; this antibody will only detect the longest isoform.

Immunogen

DAF antibody was raised against an 18 amino acid peptide near the carboxy terminus of human DAF. The immunogen is located within amino acids 360 - 410 of DAF.

Clonality

Polyclonal

Tissue Specificity

Expressed on the plasma membranes of all cell types that are in intimate contact with plasma complement proteins. It is also found on the surfaces of epithelial cells lining extracellular compartments, and variants of the molecule are present in body fluids and in extracellular matrix.

Applications

ELISA, WB, IHC-P, IF

Field of Research

Immunology

Purification

DAF antibody is affinity chromatography purified via peptide column.

Concentration

1 mg/mL

Form

Liquid

Function

This protein recognizes C4b and C3b fragments that condense with cell-surface hydroxyl or amino groups when nascent C4b and C3b are locally generated during C4 and c3 activation. Interaction of daf with cell-associated C4b and C3b polypeptides interferes with their ability to catalyze the conversion of C2 and factor B to enzymatically active C2a and Bb and thereby prevents the formation of C4b2a and C3bBb, the amplification convertases of the complement cascade (PubMed:7525274) . Inhibits complement activation by destabilizing and preventing the formation of C3 and C5 convertases, which prevents complement damage (PubMed:28657829) .

Storage Conditions

DAF antibody can be stored at 4°C for three months and -20°C, stable for up to one year.
