Predicted to be active in keratin filament. Is expressed in several structures, including EVL; cardiovascular system; integument; pectoral fin; and sensory system. Human ortholog (s) of this gene implicated in several diseases, including Meesmann corneal dystrophy 2; autosomal dominant woolly hair; hypotrichosis (multiple) ; ichthyosis (multiple) ; and palmoplantar keratosis (multiple) . Orthologous to several human genes including KRT8 (keratin 8) .
