Involved in positive regulation of cell population proliferation; retinal cone cell differentiation; and retinal rod cell differentiation. Acts upstream of or within several processes, including brain development; neural crest cell migration; and positive regulation of transcription by RNA polymerase II. Located in nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including immature eye; nervous system; neural keel; neural plate; and neural rod. Human ortholog (s) of this gene implicated in bilateral optic nerve hypoplasia; eye disease (multiple) ; glucose intolerance; and paranoid schizophrenia. Orthologous to human PAX6 (paired box 6) .

At -20°C for one year from date of receipt. After reconstitution, at 4°C for one month. It can also be aliquotted and stored frozen at -20°C for six months. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
