Acts upstream of or within several processes, including neuron development; neuronal action potential propagation; and regulation of neuron projection development. Located in axon; plasma membrane; and synapse. Is active in glutamatergic synapse and postsynaptic density membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; central nervous system; genitourinary system; integumental system; and sensory organ. Used to study autism spectrum disorder. Orthologous to human NRCAM (neuronal cell adhesion molecule) .

E.coli-derived human NRCAM recombinant protein (Position: R207-Q1025) . Mouse NRCAM shares 91.7% and 97.1% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with human and rat NRCAM, respectively.
