Rat Midkine ELISA Kit PicoKine®

Midkine (MK) is a member of a family of neurotrophic and developmentally-regulated heparin-binding molecules that currently consists of midkine, pleiotrophin/PTN and avian RI-HB. This gene is mapped to 3q24. Across species, MK shows 87% amino acid identity between the human and mouse proteins. Between family members, human MK is approximately 50% identical to human PTN.

Developmentally regulated, secreted growth factor homologous to pleiotrophin (PTN), which has heparin binding activity. Binds anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) which induces ALK activation and subsequent phosphorylation of the insulin receptor substrate (IRS1), followed by the activation of mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) and PI3-kinase, and the induction of cell proliferation. Involved in neointima formation after arterial injury, possibly by mediating leukocyte recruitment. Also involved in early fetal adrenal gland development.

Pipettes and pipette tips capable of precisely dispensing 0.5 μl through 1 ml volumes of aqueous solutions. Multichannel pipettes are recommended for large amount of samples.
