Background

Secretoglobin family 3A member 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the SCGB3A1 gene. This gene encodes a small secreted protein that may function in the inhibition of cell growth. Expression of the related gene in humans is downregulated via DNA methylation in breast cancers and other tumor types. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding multiple isoforms have been observed for this gene.
