Anti-IL1 beta/IL1B Antibody Picoband® Fluoro488 Conjugated

Product Specifications

Background

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1beta) also know as catabolin, is a cytokine protein that in humans is encoded by the IL1B gene, which localizes to the long arm of chromosome at position 2q13-2q21 between two fragile sites. Interleukin 1 (IL-1) is a protein with several biological activities regulating host defense and immune responses.2 The human IL-1 family plays an important role in the pathogenesis of many diseases and functions as a key mediator of the host response to various infectious, inflammatory, and immunologic challenges.

Synonyms

Interleukin-1 beta; IL-1 beta; Il1b

Gene Name

IL1B

Gene ID

16176

UniProt

P10749

Host

Rabbit

Reactivity

Mouse, Rat

Cross Reactivity

No cross-reactivity with other proteins

Immunogen

A synthetic peptide corresponding to a sequence at the C-terminus of mouse IL-1 beta, different from the related rat sequence by four amino acids.

Clonality

Polyclonal

Tissue Specificity

Widely expressed; lower levels in brain and lung.

Applications

Flow Cytometry

Field of Research

Atherosclerosis, Cardiovascular, Cytokines, Immunology, Innate Immunity, Interleukins, Metabolism, Obesity, Vascular Inflammation

Purification

Immunogen affinity purified.

Form

Liquid

Function

Produced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.

30931 MW

Specificity

No cross reactivity with other proteins.

Applications Notes

6

Gene Name Synonym

Interleukin-1 beta

Subcellular Location

Secreted. The lack of a specific hydrophobic segment in the precursor sequence suggests that IL-1 is released by damaged cells or is secreted by a mechanism differing from that used for other secretory proteins.

Sequence Similarities

Belongs to the histone deacetylase family. HD type 1 subfamily.

Protein Name

Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1 beta)

Isotype

Rabbit IgG

Contents

Each vial contains 50% glycerol, 0.9% NaCl, 0.2% Na2HPO4, 0.02% NaN3.
