Lysine demethylase 8 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the KDM8 gene. This gene likely encodes a histone lysine demethylase. Studies of a similar protein in mouse indicate a potential role for this protein as a tumor suppressor. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been described.

E.coli-derived human KDM8 recombinant protein (Position: D4-D406) . Human KDM8 shares 78.1% and 78.9% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat KDM8, respectively.

Downstream effector of TOR signaling pathway involved in osmotic stress response. Could be involved in the control of plant growth and development. Phosphorylates the ribosomal proteins P14, P16 and S6. Functions as a repressor of cell proliferation and required for maintenance of chromosome stability and ploidy levels through the RBR1-E2F pathway.
