Protein phosphatase Slingshot homolog 3 is an enzyme that in humans is encoded by the SSH3 gene. The ADF (actin-depolymerizing factor) /cofilin family (see MIM 601442) is composed of stimulus-responsive mediators of actin dynamics. ADF/cofilin proteins are inactivated by kinases such as LIM domain kinase-1. The SSH family appears to play a role in actin dynamics by reactivating ADF/cofilin proteins in vivo.

E.coli-derived human SSH3 recombinant protein (Position: Q108-Q620) . Human SSH3 shares 82.8% and 84.2% amino acid (aa) sequence identity with mouse and rat SSH3, respectively.

Downstream effector of TOR signaling pathway involved in osmotic stress response. Could be involved in the control of plant growth and development. Phosphorylates the ribosomal proteins P14, P16 and S6. Functions as a repressor of cell proliferation and required for maintenance of chromosome stability and ploidy levels through the RBR1-E2F pathway.
