Anti-SA1/STAG1 Antibody Picoband® Fluoro488 Conjugated
Product Specifications
Background
Cohesin subunit SA-1 (SA1) is a protein that in humans is encoded by the STAG1 gene. This gene is a member of the SCC3 family and is expressed in the nucleus. It encodes a component of cohesin, a multisubunit protein complex that provides sister chromatid cohesion along the length of a chromosome from DNA replication through prophase and prometaphase, after which it is dissociated in preparation for segregation during anaphase.

Function
Component of the Mediator complex, a coactivator involved in the regulated transcription of nearly all RNA polymerase II-dependent genes. Mediator functions as a bridge to convey information from gene-specific regulatory proteins to the basal RNA polymerase II transcription machinery. Mediator is recruited to promoters by interactions with regulatory proteins and serves as a scaffold for the assembly of a functional preinitiation complex with RNA polymerase II and the general transcription factors.
