Anti-EEF2 Antibody Picoband® Fluoro488 Conjugated
Product Specifications
Background
Eukaryotic elongation factor 2 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the EEF2 gene. This gene encodes a member of the GTP-binding translation elongation factor family. This protein is an essential factor for protein synthesis. It promotes the GTP-dependent translocation of the nascent protein chain from the A-site to the P-site of the ribosome. This protein is completely inactivated by EF-2 kinase phosporylation.

Function
Required for RNA-mediated gene silencing (RNAi) . Binds to short RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs) or short interfering RNAs (siRNAs), and represses the translation of mRNAs which are complementary to them. Lacks endonuclease activity and does not appear to cleave target mRNAs. Also required for transcriptional gene silencing (TGS) of promoter regions which are complementary to bound short antigene RNAs (agRNAs) . .
